Dear Academic Affairs Team,
The transition from our homegrown student information system (SIS) to the Banner information management system marks an important step forward for Santa Rosa Junior College. I recognize that changes of this scale can bring ongoing challenges and frustrations during implementation, and I appreciate the adaptability and collaboration that our community has shown as we navigate this transition together.
To support an effective transition, the following resources are available. In addition to these supports, Banner implementation updates will continue through dedicated meeting spaces, Frontline Forums, and DCIMC.
An Academic Affairs workgroup is also being established to provide ongoing support, field questions, and share timely updates in the days and weeks ahead.
In preparation for the Banner Priority 1 registration go-live date on Monday, April 20, 2026, please see the information below and feel free to email me and cc Dean Josh Adams with any follow-up questions or considerations.
- Add codes are available to faculty the day before the class begins and can be used by students once the class has begun.
- For restricted classes, permit overrides will be used. Departments will coordinate logistics for implementing this, and the District will work to establish a consistent process across all Departments.
- In the migration from SIS to Banner, some students are experiencing delays in accessing Canvas. The District is supporting these students through the IT Student Help Desk and the Welcome Center. We ask that consideration and flexibility be shown to students who report being impacted by these delays.
- Amid the migration from SIS to Banner, Canvas Course Shells for Summer 2026 will become available to faculty the week of June 1, 2026. Summer classes begin June 15, 2026.
- The curriculum team is making steady progress transitioning to new systems, including Banner, CourseLeaf, and Degree Works. Current priorities include cleaning up data migrated from SIS, configuring the CourseLeaf Curriculum Inventory Management (CIM) system (which will replace the current process for submitting curriculum changes through CRC), and finalizing degree and prerequisite requirements in Degree Works.
- Please note that the launch of CourseLeaf CIM has been delayed to June 2026. As a result, the curriculum freeze will remain in place until then. We recognize this affects planning and appreciate your patience as we work through the configuration.
- We are aware of the accessibility challenges with the new class schedule. We will be moving to CourseLeaf CLSS in 2027, which will improve the user experience.
- The Curriculum team is also building out CourseLeaf Catalog (CAT), which will serve as our new college catalog beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year.
