Updates impacting instruction, Canvas, and scheduling.

| Certifying Your Rosters | Certifying your roster means reviewing your class list at each required checkpoint, dropping any students who qualify at that checkpoint, and submitting the roster. You'll need to certify three separate rosters during the term, each with its own deadline and purpose. You must certify all three rosters. A few important things to know See the Faculty FAQs for details and step-by-step instructions

| Clock Hours vs Carnegie Hours | Why do my class times look different in Banner? Banner calculates class meeting times using the CCCCO contact-hour method, where one contact hour equals 50 minutes of instruction. Our old SIS system included passing time and break time in the displayed schedule, so meeting times were rounded out to the hour or half hour. Banner shows only the instructional minutes. For example, a 3.0-unit lecture that meets twice a week needs 1.5 contact hours per meeting (1.5 × 50 = 75 minutes). SIS displayed that as 8:00–9:30; Banner shows it as 8:00–9:15. The instructional time is the same. SIS added 10 minutes of passing time for every hour of class (15 minutes for a 1.5-hour class), and Banner doesn't display it. For classes of two hours or more, Banner does include a 10-minute break between each hour. Please plan to end class at the time listed in Banner so students can get to their next class. | Dropped Students | In Bear Cub Hub, students who drop without a W will be removed from the enrolled student list (Class List) and will not be included in emails sent to all students. Students who drop with a W remain on the list of enrolled students with the Registration Status of 'Drop With W.' They will be included in emails sent to all students (unless the instructor removes/unchecks them) as well as in any enrollment count for the course. In Canvas, students who drop a course (or are dropped from a course) are considered Inactive. Inactive students will appear on the People page with the word 'Inactive' next to their name. Faculty can also see a list of only Inactive students in their Canvas course by going to the Gradebook and choosing Inactive Enrollments from the options. Inactive students cannot see or participate in Canvas courses. Read more about dropped students in Bear Cub Hub

| Common Course Numbering Display Corrections Underway | Updates are being made to improve how Common Course Numbering information displays in Banner. C1000 and C1001 course aliases are now displaying correctly on student transcripts, and additional corrections are underway to remove duplicated Common Course Numbering information from course titles. |

| Degree Auditing Enhancements Support AB 928 and Program Changes | With support from SRJC Programmer Analyst David Grim and Ellucian, SRJC can now customize the Banner data Degree Works uses to better support local requirements. This allows the college to address AB 928 review requirements and catalog addendum changes to degree and certificate programs, while providing greater flexibility as future regulations and initiatives affect degree audits and student education planning. |
| Financial Aid Stabilization Continues | Student Financial Services has continued processing aid and disbursements while addressing SAP, Cal Grant and other award-processing intricacies. The SFS team, along with IT, Accounting, Ellucian, and BankMobile, is diligently addressing BankMobile challenges. Nearly $4 million in Pell Grants have been disbursed this fall, and every effort is being made so that financial aid operations meet normal processing schedules. |
| Fall Semester Graduation Application Now Live | The Fall 2026 graduation application is now available for students. Students can apply for the active degree or certificate options currently listed as their Active, Current Program of Record on file in their Banner record. Please refer students to Counseling to assist students whose program or General Education information needs to be updated before they apply. |
| Registration and Student Record Corrections Moving Forward | Several enrollment and student-record issues have either been corrected or are receiving focused attention, including prerequisite and override processing, transfer credit impacts on course repeats and exclusions, refund deadlines, and other registration barriers. Teams continue prioritizing these issues as preparations begin for Spring 2027 registration. |
| Placement and Student Record Updates Improving | Updates have been implemented to improve the flow of CCCApply and placement information into Banner. Assessment and Student Services teams continue validating these changes to help ensure that new and returning students' placement information updates accurately and consistently. |
| Student Support System Integrations Progressing | Multiple integrations continue to advance, including BankMobile, MediCat, Rave Alert, Accommodate, housing, and other student support systems. Several integrations are already live, while others remain in testing and validation phases before full deployment. |
| Common Course Numbering Transcript Display Corrected | The C1000 and C1001 course aliases are now displaying correctly on student transcripts, resolving one of the issues associated with the transition to Common Course Numbering. |
