Dear SRJC Students,
If you haven’t checked your Bear Cubs email lately, now is the time to start.
As SRJC transitions to a new student information system, known as Banner, you will soon have access to new tools and resources to support your academic journey. As of January 6, 2026, your @bearcubs email account is used to receive important information related to registering for classes, accessing resources, and your new student ID.
Here are the top four most important things to know right now regarding this transition:
- Official SRJC messages are sent to both your personal and @bearcubs email accounts [YH1]
Your @bearcubs email account is now the primary place you will receive important SRJC messages related to enrollment, registration, and student records. During the transition, you will receive emails to both your @bearcubs and personal email accounts to ensure a smooth transition. For security purposes, messages [JK2] cannot be auto-forwarded to your personal email account.
- You’ll soon receive a new SRJC Student ID
In the coming weeks, you will receive a new SRJC Student ID (SID). The SIDs will be sent to both your personal and your @bearcubs email accounts in March. You will use this SID to access the new Student Portal, the Bear Cub Hub, along with other student systems, such as Canvas and Handshake.
- Canvas notifications go to @bearcubs email by default – but are customizable
Canvas notifications will default to your @bearcubs email account, but you may add a secondary personal email to receive notifications there as well. For details on customizing your Canvas notifications, click here.
- Your @bearcubs account includes Google tools
Your @bearcubs account includes access to Google Workspace, including Gmail, Drive, and Docs, which you may use to support your coursework.
More information and resources are available via the Student Information System webpage. This webpage will continue to be updated with guides and resources to help during this transition.
