- Banner Scheduling Progress
The Scheduling Team is actively entering data into the new Banner system, with a current focus on Fall 2026 proofs and cleaning up Summer 2026 semester data. The anticipated completion date for Fall 2026 proofs is May 7, 2026.
- Faculty Instructional Load
Faculty instructional load is not currently accessible in Banner. Faculty will be able to look up instructional load in SIS. The Scheduling Team will continue to maintain both systems to ensure no lapse in access.
- Canvas Course Setup
Faculty do not need to wait until June 1 to begin course preparation. You may create a sandbox in Canvas for each course and later roll content into the official Canvas shell. If you need help, use the Distance Education help page or submit the Canvas course development sandbox request form
- Course Outlines of Record
Course Outlines of Record will remain available in SIS until the 2026–2027 catalog is published using CourseLeaf CAT. Publication is anticipated in July 2026.
- Restricted Classes
For restricted classes, permit overrides must be completed individually. Batch enrollment is not available.
- Class End Times
Class end times in Banner will reflect the close of instruction before the passing period, rather than the end of the full-time block. See the Chancellor’s Office ADA contact hour computation guide for more details.
- Student Access to Canvas
Students gain access to Canvas once they are officially enrolled in the course. Students on the waitlist are not added to the Canvas course in Banner due to FERPA regulations
- Proof Reports
The college is working with IT to develop new Proof reports that mirror the existing format. In the meantime, a preliminary Summer 2026 “First Glance” data table has been distributed to faculty for initial review. Please reach out if you did not receive it or if you have questions.
- Attendance Accounting Method
Beginning with the Summer 2026 schedule, SRJC will transition to the Standardized Attendance Accounting Method for credit courses. Most credit classes will no longer require tracking positive attendance hours, and funding will remain the same regardless of how classes are scheduled.
- Bear Cub Hub Role Access
Academic deans, directors, and administrative assistants should verify in Bear Cub Hub support resources that their indicated access level is “Advisor” so they can view the appropriate information
- Banner Questionnaire Form
This questionnaire is intended to help inform emergent training needs and gaps.
- CourseLeaf CIM Launch
The launch of CourseLeaf CIM has been delayed until July 2026. As a result, the curriculum freeze will remain in place until then. Thank you for your patience
- Start Here
Use the Bear Cub Hub help, guides, and videos page as the primary starting point.
- Faculty Self-Service
Bear Cub Hub replaces SIS. Faculty should become familiar with the Bear Cub Hub portal, especially the Faculty Self-Service card. Review the Faculty Self-Service Quick Guide.
- Teaching Summer 2026
Canvas Sandboxes: If faculty need to begin working on their Canvas course content before June 1, and do not have an available Sandbox to use for that purpose, please submit the Canvas course development sandbox request form. This would allow an instructor to create content early and then copy that content into the course once it becomes available. This guide will walk you through the import process.
Canvas for Early-Start Summer Courses: If your course starts before June 1 and you'll be using Canvas, please submit this form to Distance Education: SRJC Canvas - Summer 2026 Early-Start Course Request. Please note that enrollments in these Canvas courses will be static until Canvas is connected to Banner the week of June 1.
- Prepare for Fall 2026
Low-lift preparation steps include reviewing Bear Cub Hub resources, becoming familiar with Faculty Self-Service, and keeping registration support information handy for student questions
- Student Registration Expectations
Student Services is sending out student communications: student communications
- Student Registration Assistance
- Students should activate their Bear Cub email for access using the Bear Cub email activation page and the Bear Cub email video guide.
- Students log in through the Bear Cub Hub portal.
- Students locate their Time Ticket in Student Profile and must wait until their assigned registration time to register.
- Students may search classes using the Class Search tool. Searching by CRN, or Course Reference Number, is the most efficient method.
- Add Codes and Waitlists
Expect student questions during the first week of the term. Keep Add Code and waitlist resources available
- Prerequisite Issues
If students cannot register because of prerequisites, please direct them to Counseling using the current college process.
